Financial Aspect is so Important in our Deen!

The Quran begins with Surah Al Baqarah and what do we read in the 3rd ayah and never pay attention to:

We all pay attention to the first part of the ayah- Iman and Salah and forget what comes right after it. Have you ever thought how important this must be that Allah (SWT) mentioned it right after Iman and Salah. We are being told where to spend our money in a wise way, this is so important because it brings about the very needed equilibrium in the society and thrusts the society forward to circulate the wealth to everyone and gives everyone the power to go on with their daily lives.

Another strikingly fundamental ayah is the Ayah Al Birr: 2:177

It is not righteousness that you turn your faces towards the East and the West, but righteousness is the one who believes in Allah and the last day and the angels and the Book and the prophets, and gives away wealth out of love for Him to the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and the beggars and for (the emancipation of) the captives, and keeps up prayer and pays the zakat, and the performers of their promise when they make a promise, and the patient in distress and affliction and in time of conflict - these are they who are true and these are they who are the pious (2:177).

In this ayah, Allah (swt) talks about what Goodness is- Al-Birr. Defining it as Iman in Allah, The day of Judgement, Angels, Books, and Prophets. And immediately after Iman Allah mentions the importance of how to use the wealth bestowed on us from HIM. Each category is listed separately, there is so much detail to this part of the ayah,

and gives his wealth, in spite of love for it”. Allah (swt) tells us where to spend it even though we love it so dearly. Again, this command is before Allah mentions Salah, and then again after Salah Allah (swt) mentions another financial aspect of our Maal- wealth- Zakat.
